You can ride 55!

In celebration of bikes, booze, beer, double nickels and hard tens, the sensible—though failed—energy policy of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, caesium, and above all, the passing of another year in a life whose span now equals the sum of the numbers 1 to 10, 327 Words is pleased to announce the 327 Words (I Can Ride) Speed Limit 55 Time Trial, an alleycat-style bike race starting from 2020 Cycle at 2020 Union Street on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 3:27PM with sign-ups beginning about 2:30.

Racers, competing in a group time-trial format, will head north, northeast, east, and west on some of Seattle’s most notable 55th avenues and streets, completing a course that, in a nod to our metrically-inclined friends, will add up to something close enough to 55 kilometers for, as they say, jazz or government work.

Prizes—cash and bike schwag—will be awarded for fastest times, men’s and ladies’ divisions, as well as runner-up positions, including, of course, DFL.

Prize sponsors and friends currently on tap include:

Don’t pass up your chance to ride dangerously through traffic, drink a variety of 55-themed libations, and have the strange experience of finding yourself at the corner of 55th and 55th!

Friends and relations are invited to show up at Bill's Off-Broadway Bar sometime around 6:00 to join in the post-race festivities and prize-giving.
